Comments

When visitors leave comments on our website, we collect the information provided in the comment form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string. This data helps us identify and prevent spam. We may also generate an anonymized hash of your email address to check if you use the Gravatar service. You can review the Gravatar Privacy Policy for more information. After your comment is approved, your profile picture (if available) will be displayed publicly alongside your comment.

Media

If you upload images to our site, we ask that you avoid including any embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors may be able to download and extract location details from images uploaded to the site.

Cookies

When you leave a comment, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies for future convenience. This means you won’t have to re-enter your details when commenting again, and these cookies will remain active for one year. When you visit our login page, a temporary cookie will be set to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie does not store personal data and is deleted when you close your browser. After logging in, we set several cookies to remember your login details and display preferences. Login cookies last for two days, while display preference cookies remain for one year. If you choose the “Remember Me” option, your session will persist for two weeks. Logging out will clear the login cookies. If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be stored in your browser that tracks the post ID of the article you edited and expires after one day.

Embedded Content from External Sites

Our content may include embedded media such as videos, images, or articles from third-party websites. This embedded content behaves as if you visited the external site directly. These third-party sites may collect data about you, use cookies, include additional tracking, and monitor how you interact with the embedded content, particularly if you are logged into the external site.

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email sent to you.

Data Retention

We retain comments and their associated metadata indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and automatically approve any follow-up comments without requiring moderation. For registered users (if applicable), we store the personal information provided in their user profiles. Users can view, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except for their username). Website administrators also have access to this information and can modify it as needed.

Your Rights Over Your Data

If you have an account on our site or have left comments, you can request an exported file containing the personal data we hold about you, including any information you have provided. You also have the right to request the deletion of your personal data. However, this does not apply to data we need to retain for administrative, legal, or security reasons.
